Prevention Is Better Than Cure | July 2009

Lane End Conference Centre has put in place an action
plan to take steps in preventing swine flu from spreading
on our premises.
We are committed to providing a space that is not only
conducive to learning and development, but also a clean
and hygienically friendly facility where delegates can
focus on why they came here in the first place.
The Policy:
1) Government guidelines are given to delegates when they check in at reception and a copy is in their lecture rooms.
2) Lane End Conference Centre is subscribed to the Government swine flu information system and up-to-date information is sent to us by e-mail.
3) The organisation has appointed one member of the team as a designated Swine Flu Officer, in charge of dealing with any enquires and giving advice.
4) Everybody at Lane End is encouraged to wash their hands as frequently as possible signs to this effect are prominently displayed in close proximity to freely provided antibacterial wash products.
5) Lane End Conference Centre will immediately contact the National Health Service (NHS) if any delegate or member of staff has flulike symptoms. The NHS local health protection unit has measures in place to supply antiviral medicine, such as Tamiflu, as soon as a case of swine flu is reported to them. The British government has a huge stockpile of this medicine immediately available.
6) At the Lane End Conference Centre there are over 12 Red Cross qualified first aid staff and they are keeping a close eye on the situation.
