From Las Vegas to Lane End: Great Location for Kick Off Day

Lane End Conference Centre was chosen by Active Risk – providers of the world's first Enterprise Risk Management solution – as the UK venue to host their annual kick-off day.

A very important date in the company’s calendar, the event combined activities to reward staff, communicate goals and set new strategies. The company needed an experienced venue of a high standard, equipped to deal with both intensive conferences and innovative outdoor events, and to stack up against some of the more exotic locations, such as Las Vegas, where this event was previously held.

Lane End Conference Centre was included in a larger venue search and shortlisted about two months before the event. Thereafter various members of the Active Risk team came on four separate visits to judge the suitability, service and flexibility of Lane End.

The team at Lane End worked closely with longstanding partner Hi5 Events to offer interactive team events for the main activity day. Events were carefully chosen to include an element of fun with a segways course, promote teamwork with rocket building and finding solutions in designing the ultimate watershute.

The quintessential English countryside setting of Buckinghamshire-based Lane End, its secluded and private nature, the standard of conference facilities and proximity to the outdoor space proved to be a perfect match – and there is great post-event feedback to proof it.

Peter Robertshaw SVP said: “The general environment at Lane End Conference Centre and the standard of its facilities helped us achieve our business objectives.

“The staff showed a great degree of flexibility around our changing requirements – all requests were dealt with quickly and efficiently. The feedback was extremely positive from our attendees and the event proved to be a great success.”

Peter also commended the skills and professional approach of the event coordinator, Louise Altin, who he said coped extremely well with all the ‘curve balls’ they threw her way.
