Top Rating From Food Standards Agency
Lane End is celebrating its being awarded the highest rating in the Food Standards Agency’s Food hygiene rating scheme.
This means the Buckinghamshire venue was given five out of five in its most recent local authority inspection.
A food safety officer visits businesses that provide catering services to look at how well these firms are complying with food hygiene law. The officer looks at how hygienically food is prepared, cooked, re-heated, cooled and stored. Then they examine the cleanliness, layout, lighting, ventilation and other facilities where food is present before going on to finally check how the business manages and records what it does to make sure food is safe.
The scores allocated range from zero, which indicates urgent improvement is required, through to five where the property’s hygiene standards are considered to be very good.
The Food is trying to encourage as many local authorities as possible to adopt the scheme so that consumers have a good idea of where to buy their food or eat out through their being able to compare the ratings of restaurants, cafés, takeaways, hotels and food shops both in their local area and further away from home.
Lane End supports the scheme which helps customers with one of the major decisions they have to make when putting an event together.
“This is a very important aspect of the delegate’s experience of an event,” says sales and marketing manager, Heni Fourie. “Our customers regularly comment on the quality of our food and with the Food Standards Agency’s scheme and rating we can demonstrate the care that we take in delivering our catering.”
The conference centre offers three dining rooms each with its own dedicated kitchen. To ensure high quality food and service the executive head chef, Mike Day, manages a team of six full time chefs.
“There is no ‘big plate, small portions’ cuisine here, just good wholesome food, cooked on-site and served straight from the kitchen,” he says. “We provide full English breakfast, a daily hot and cold buffet lunch, table d’hôte dinner menus and a great choice for special occasions including a range of barbeque menus, themed dinner and gala dinner menus.”
