Enhanced light created better environment for learning
Lighting has always formed an important part of the event organiser’s brief for conference and training facilities. However, this requirement has drastically changed as presentation technology has evolved.
Decades ago, facilitators would ask for training rooms with a black-out facility to avoid glare on their overhead projectors. However, today’s new generation of LCD projectors and plasma screens are much better suited to natural lighting, which is proven to enhance the learning experience.
According to the Lighting Research Center in New York, light not only affects our ability to see but it also regulates the body’s rhythms such as the sleep/wake cycle – good lighting is therefore integral to the success of any business meeting or training event.
Lane End Conference Centre has always offered dedicated facilities that are conducive to learning and development. Therefore, as part of the recent refurbishment project major lighting improvements were carried out to further enhance the specialist meeting facilities on offer at Lane End.
The extensive refurbishment included structural work increasing the ceiling height in two of the main conference rooms and creating more windows to let more natural daylight into the training rooms.
Additionally the centre worked with Newcastle-based Hacel Lighting to improve the interior lighting and create a sense of daylight after sunset as many of the clients choose to continue their work in training rooms at night.
