Improving Team Productivity Through Play

Time and again research shows that good communication amongst employees equals better performance.

Following a recent study into the subject, MIT Media Laboratories advised the manager of a poor performing call centre team to shake up its schedule and allow teams to take their breaks together. This simple step transformed members’ performance - call handling time fell, customer satisfaction increased and profits rocketed.

The good news is that it is easy to encourage bonding in the work place, from arranging social nights to attending professional team building events. And just like the call centre, the results are worth it.

Lane End Conference Centre offer one of the largest corporate team building programmes in the UK.

Heni Fourie, Sales and Marketing Manager at the Bucks training centre, said: “Evidence shows that team building helps boost communication, morale and productivity enormously.

“While it might feel like ‘play’, team building activities are a really effective way of breaking down barriers and putting colleagues at ease with each other. Even after one session, clients report improved focus, renewed energy and better communication amongst teams.”

Lane End Conference Centre delivers tailored experiential learning courses and corporate team building events for London-based and national businesses.

Its purpose-built award-winning facilities include:

• A dedicated team building and experiential learning centre offering over 20 interactive games and challenges designed to foster trust, communication and co-operation between participants.

• Fun indoor and outdoor team building activities, including off road Segways, Max Kat motor racing and Air Rifle Scrabble to name a few, plus unlimited free access to the centre’s fully-equipped gym, outdoor fitness trail, jogging route, golf course, tennis courts and five-a-side football pitch.

• Professional culinary challenges, including Bake Off style cake and chocolate making challenges.

• Peace and privacy Lane End Conference Centre sits within a private 26-acre country estate. Its facilities comprise five spacious self-contained meeting venues, each with private lounge, bar and dining room to maximise networking and socialising amongst team members.

The Royal Institute of Chartered Surveyors, who chose Lane End for its recent team building event, gave this glowing feedback:

“The event went well and every delegate went away wowed by the pleasant venue. The highlights for most were the food - this was fantastic, especially the barbecue - the beautiful grounds, the High 5 events team the Segways were really thoroughly enjoyed and the cleanliness and smart appearance of the whole venue.”

“I would like to personally pass on my gratitude to the brilliant staff who looked after us so well. A special thanks to Danish and the catering team, they were amazing.”
