Lane End – who recently celebrated its fiftieth year in business – commissioned a brand refresh for 2020 and beyond.
A new look for a new era. The modular geometry of the new logo takes inspiration from the modular design of the Lane End buildings themselves. Drawing inspiration from the venue's own buildings, the geometric shapes of the logo are a nod to cube-style architecture widespread in post-war Britain.
A refreshed logo combines modular blocks with a wordmark comprised of the Italiana font, complete with its elegant and fluid lines.
This coming together of elements, unified by a common purpose, neatly encapsulates the Lane End aesthetic. Embracing the future, with a history of educational excellence.
The brand roll-out is the latest in a long line of exciting developments at Lane End.
Having recorded a quality score of almost 99% in an annual feedback survey, Lane End went on to secure a nomination for excellence in customer service at the prestigious Buckinghamshire Business Awards in July.
Come October and they went one better to land the coveted IACC European Innovation award for a series of inspired green initiatives.
In 2019 the venue introduced 15 sustainability pledges. These include initiatives such as repurposing used coffee grounds and giving them to customers to use as compost on their gardens; creating a water bottling plant onsite and replacing plastic water bottles for glass; recycling cooking oil into Bio Fuel; and replacing single use toiletries in guest bedrooms.
Lane End also planted an orchard on site, creating an oasis for wildlife and providing fruit to be used across the centre in the years to come.
The biggest impact, however, has come from reducing both paper and plastic usage across the site. The venue reduced single-use plastic by an incredible 75 percent, exceeding their pledge with the Meeting Industry Association to reduce single use plastic by 20 percent year-on-year.
Lane End first opened its doors in November 1969 and in doing so became the UK’s first purpose-built conference centre.
Initially housing two standalone buildings, the site has evolved whilst doffing its cap to those humble beginnings. In 2019 it boasts five independent buildings, along with 32 meetings rooms and over 100 bedrooms.
In addition to conferencing capabilities, Lane End encompasses accommodation, leisure facilities and no shortage of team building activities such as Archery and FootGolf.
