Lane End Hosts Princes Risborough School Students for Talk on Customer Service

Lane End Conference Centre, Buckinghamshire hosted students of Princes Risborough School for a talk on achieving excellence in customer service.

The half-day event brought together sixty year-ten students and senior members from the operations and sales departments of the Bucks-based training venue, with the main purpose of discussing customer service.

Princes Risborough School is a specialist school in technology and science for 11 to 18 year old students.

The business studies students were given an assignment to perform research on the chosen business - Lane End Conference Centre. They had to identify potential customer needs and how those needs were being met by the business.

Surveys were compiled and circulated to local businesses, which were identified by the students as potential clients of Lane End Conference Centre.

The Pavilion one of five distinct buildings at Lane End provided the ideal setting for this event. The building includes one main meeting room and three break-out rooms, allowing the students to be divided into four groups and attend each of the four talks by experienced, customer-facing members of the team at Lane End.

The four sessions comprised presentations by:

•    Sales and Marketing Manager Heni Fourie on headline sales, who the customers are, where they come from and how to retain their business.
•    Two experienced Sales Executives Sarah Haynes and Stephanie Griggs on day-to-day processes of dealing with new enquiries, confirming bookings and planning events.
•    The Operations Director Mike Gough on the importance of employing warm and friendly staff, delivering an effortless service and working together to create an unforgettable experience.
•    The Head Chef Mike Day on working closely with the sales team in understanding the customers’ expectations and delivering the standard of food they require and expect for their guests.

Main organiser, Mrs Dhameja-Tanner, tweeted after the event: “Thank you to the amazing folks @LaneEndCC helping our year 10s with their coursework. Customer service talks from the leaders.”

She tweeted again, saying: “Some comments from students who visited @LaneEndCC they are so committed - They think of everything! - I can see why people work and visit there.”

Lane End Sales and Marketing Manager, Heni Fourie, said: “It was a pleasure to host the business studies students. They were all a credit to Princes Risborough School.

“It was great to share our knowledge and see such an overwhelming interest from these students customer service is something that affects everyone, no matter what your age.”

Mike Gough commented, "It’s great to be able to give back something to the local community; strengthening our ties and passing on knowledge to future generations of potential hospitality workers.
