Taking Conference Centres to the Client

Lane End has launched two major new initiatives to make booking space in its conference centres and organising events easier and more cost effective.

International venue Lane End Conference Centre is helping companies to cut the cost and reduce the time of organising conferences by ‘bringing the venue to them’.

Lane End Sales and Marketing Manager Heni Fourie said: “We realise how time consuming it can be to organise conferences and events, but we also know how important it is to understand the space.

“Therefore, if you can’t find the time to visit us, we will visit you and present the space virtually through an online tool.”

Traditionally, residential conference venues have always suggested that the client goes to them when viewing and booking space.

But the team from Lane End Conference Centre in Buckinghamshire wants to break the mould and “take the venue to the clients” by going to their premises to offer their knowledge and expertise and plan the event alongside the client.

Even though Lane End is just 30 miles from London and readily accessible from the capital, organisers believe it is important to make viewing and booking meeting room venues as quick and easy as possible.

“By no means are we discouraging clients from visiting us at the venue, it will always be the preferred option as the venue and available space really speaks for itself,” said Mr Fourie.

“We just want to offer an alternative and allow clients to fully utilise our specialist service when organising their events at our venue.”

Virtual online tours of Lane End give clients a detailed view of its conference facilities which include:

34 conference meeting rooms
104 bedrooms
four lounge and bar areas, four dining rooms
games room with a lounge and bar, fitness and leisure facilities
166 free car parking spaces
free Wi-Fi.
Mr Fourie said: “This new system is not only much more convenient for the client, it also cuts costs by speeding up the decision-making process and reducing travel costs.

“We have a team of specialised event co-ordinators on-site to help you plan your event from start to finish.

“We don’t just sell you the space, we are able to advise you on layout and set-up, catering, agenda and logistics.”

Lane End’s other major initiative believed to be a UK first is a new one-day course for business people who have been forced by budget cutbacks to bring their conference-planning in-house.

Effectively it is an intensive course in events management for people who have never managed events.

The new course is accredited by the Chartered Institute of Marketing. It is aimed at organisations that previously would have used event organisers but can no longer do so in the current financial climate.

HR executives are particularly likely to benefit. Increasing numbers of HR managers are being faced with organising conferences at very short notice without the budget to outsource the task.

It is also likely to appeal to companies looking for residential training venues that can add extra value to their package.

Mr Fourie said: “Companies and organisations are under increasing pressure when it comes to budgets for essential conferences.

“Initiatives like this new course will help them to gain even greater value as they their review their conference-planning strategies.”

Lane End Conference Centre attracts delegates from all over the world because it offer a 26-acre campus of business-dedicated conference facilities within an hour’s drive from London’s main financial hub.

Easy access via the motorways and proximity to the main London airports make Lane End a popular residential UK conference centre for delegates from across the globe.

Companies can ensure complete privacy because Lane End is divided into five distinct and separate conference centres. Firms can book an entire building with its own bedrooms, dining and conference facilities.

Lane End’s peaceful rural setting in Buckinghamshire’s beautiful Chilterns also makes it a very popular venue for weddings.

Couples seeking wedding venues in Buckinghamshire are benefiting from late availability deals thanks to the cultural and lifestyle changes that followed the last recession.

“Historically, couples used to book a year or so in advance but the lead-in times have become much shorter now,” said Mr Fourie.
